BINGO wishes to inform residents adjacent to our Eastern Creek Recycling Ecology Park, that additional maintenance works scheduled for Thursday 31 August is delayed until Tuesday 5 September. This is due to heavy rain earlier this week and wet conditions on Thursday 31 August.
Based on weather forecast, the team will finalise the placement of the pump for the leachate riser on Tuesday 5 September from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
What work will be taking place?
The sequence of tasks that we will undertake during the pump replacement are the following:
1. Opening the riser lid and extracting sump pump.
2. Placing the new sump pump and closing the lid.
3. Reconnecting all designed infrastructure like leachate and gas extraction pipes.
4. Using cranes to assist with the above works.
What is BINGO doing to prevent odour during the works?
The two permanent flares will continue to operate during the works to mitigate any odour produced from the landfill. Additionally, gas collection will be active at the riser area during these works.
To further mitigate any potential for odour, harmless oxidising solution will be applied.
Why are the works needed?
The maintenance works is necessary to replace a damaged pump and manage water on site successfully over the coming months.
