Congratulations to our Hook truck driver Tony Waalwyk in Victoria for being awarded the Victorian Transport Association Driver Salute award.
The Driver Salute is a bi-monthly recognition and reward program for heavy vehicle drivers who demonstrate outstanding and consistent safety practices behind the wheel, presented by the Victorian Transport Association (VTA), in conjunction with Goodyear Dunlop and DriveRisk.
“DriveRisk, our truck dash cam partners, approached us in April to nominate a BINGO driver for the Victorian Transport Association Driver Salute award, which recognises Victoria’s safest driver,” said Matthew Pinwill, Transport Manager – VIC B&D/C&I.
“We identified suitable BINGO candidates through our driver’s Dash Cam scores, and Tony Waalwyk was one of our best performing drivers so we put him forward for the award.
“I was proud to receive an email from DriveRisk and the Victorian Transport association saying that Tony was successful in winning the award.
“This is a fantastic achievement as he was chosen from a group of drivers nominated from all over the Victorian transport industry.”
Representatives from DriveRisk, VTA and Goodyear attended BINGO’s Braeside depot yesterday to present the award to Tony. This also means that Tony will automatically be in the running for the Driver of the Year award later this year.
The community has an expectation that professional heavy vehicle drivers prioritise safety at all times. The Driver Salute recognises these drivers and demonstrates the transport industry’s commitment to protecting our drivers and the community by promoting best practice driving.
