Commits to achieve 100% renewable electricity by 2025
RE100 is a global initiative bringing together the world’s most influential businesses committed to achieving 100% renewable electricity.
BINGO is proud to become an RE100 member and has committed to achieving 100% renewable electricity across the group’s network of facilities by 2025.
Nik Comito, BINGO’s Group Sustainability Manager says joining RE100 is an important part of the company’s road map towards reducing its carbon footprint.
“BINGO is committed to decarbonisation in alignment with the Paris Agreement. We understand that as a growing organisation we have a responsibility to set a target and associated roadmap for carbon reduction,” Nik said.
“Dealing with the impact of BINGO’s contributions to climate change, we recognise that we must reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. Joining RE100 will build on our previous solar panel installation program and will help us deliver our renewable energy goals,” he said.
Companies in the commercial and industrial sector account for around half of the world’s end-of-use electricity.
“As a business that operates large scale industrial facilities, BINGO has a great opportunity to reduce our emissions through moving to renewables across our recycling facilities. Reducing our reliance on traditional fossil fuel generated electricity will also provide cost savings over the long-term for our business,” Nik said.
BINGO has also committed to implementing a Science Based Target to assist in reducing the company’s emissions across all operations, the scope of which will include BINGO’s fuel consumption and fleet of collections vehicles.
BINGO’s RE100 membership forms a part of its Climate Change Action Plan which also includes a commitment to align the company’s financial disclosures to the UN Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
RE100 is a global initiative led by The Climate Group an international non-profit committed to accelerating climate action in partnership with the CDP.
