BINGO steps up

$150,000 raised for STEPtember and those living with cerebral palsy

BINGO is incredibly proud to have raised close to $150,000 as part of the Cerebral Palsy Alliance’s 2020 STEPtember fundraiser.

The BINGO team was recognised by the Cerebral Palsy Alliance as this year’s “Most Outstanding New Partner” and the third highest fundraiser.

Damien Percy, Business Development Manager for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance said this year’s STEPtember fundraiser had been a big success raising over $10.5 million with 84,000 participants.

“Six months ago, when the world changed, we would never have dreamt of reaching a figure anything close to $10.5 million. However, through the amazing generosity of hundreds of thousands of people and the work that companies such as BINGO have put into driving STEPtember within their organisations, this incredible result has been achieved,” Damien said.

Funds raised during STEPtember go to a wide range of initiatives which help people living with cerebral palsy live their best lives. These include identifying babies at risk and proving early intervention, stem cell studies, providing essential mobility and communication equipment, support for children in remote and rural areas, providing accessible sports programs and technology and innovation for high-needs clients.

BINGO Chief People and Culture Officer, Elise Heydon said she is incredibly proud of the BINGO Family’s efforts this year.

“We have several people within the BINGO family who have someone close to them who is living with cerebral palsy. I think this really spurred our fundraising efforts on,” Elise said.

“I’d highly recommend participating in STEPtember, it was a great way to get our teams connected and moving, especially those who are now working from home. It also creates a bit of fun and healthy competition and has bought the teams together to create a positive impact for this great cause,” she said.

With 101 participants from across BINGO’s NSW and Victorian operations, the group collectively took an impressive 28,780,649 steps.

STEPtember is run each year and challenges people to take 10,000 steps a day for 28 days during the month of September, while fundraising for charity.
