Celebrating Reconciliation Week 2022

BINGO launches second INNOVATE Reconciliation Action Plan

In celebration of National Reconciliation Week, the BINGO team came together this week to launch the company’s second INNOVATE Reconciliation Action Plan.

The launch event was attended by the BINGO and TORO teams, First Nation’s team members from across BINGO, our friends at the GWS GIANTS and other supporters of our RAP Program.

BINGO was honoured to be joined by local Traditional Custodian representative, Rhiannon Wright, the Granddaughter of Darug Elder Aunty Edna Watson, who delivered the Welcome to Country.

In a very special moment for our Auburn site, Jessy Currie from Nulungu Dreaming performed the site’s first Smoking Ceremony and also shared some of his traditional dance.

The actions in our RAP are aimed at providing support and development opportunities for our First Nations team members, increasing our procurement spend with Indigenous businesses and developing long term, sustainable relationships with local Traditional Custodians.

From BINGO CEO Chris Jeffrey:
“I believe every business operating in Australia has a responsibility to contribute to our nation’s reconciliation efforts,” Chris said.

“Our new RAP rearticulates our commitment as a business to generate opportunities for and champion the voices of Australia’s First Nations peoples within our sphere of influence.

In particular, we’ve made a commitment to understand and acknowledge the wrongs of the past, to support a better future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and to learn from and celebrate the unique cultures and heritages of our First Nations cultures,” he said.

BINGO is proud to be a part of a network of more than 1,100 organisations who have made a commitment to Reconciliation Australia’s program.

Through the program we have already begun to see positive changes at BINGO. The appointment of our first Indigenous Engagement Officer, Natalie Davies last year has helped us improve cultural safety at BINGO for First Nations team members.

BINGO Community Notice C&I EPL

The impacts of recent severe weather events are being experienced industry-wide across the NSW waste supply-chain, with significant delays and reduction of waste services capacity. To assist in easing congestion and delays in commercial & industrial (C&I) and other putrescible waste services, the NSW Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has approved emergency changes to BINGO’s Environment Protection License for our Auburn and Eastern Creek recycling facilities to temporarily accept putrescible C&I waste.

BINGO Trailblazers - Lisa Tizzone

I'm Lisa and I’m the Marketing Manager at BINGO. I completed a Bachelor of Commerce in 2019 at the University of New South Wales majoring in Marketing. A little fun fact about me is that my parents are BIG Elvis fans, so fittingly I’m named after Lisa-Marie Presley. I even had the “privilege” of visiting Graceland in Memphis!
