BINGO recently organised a tree planting day at its Patons Lane site in Western Sydney. About 40 employees spent the day planting trees to increase vegetation cover, restore environmental function and improve the conservation value of the site.
Thank you to Daryl Wells, Open Spaces Manager at Muru Mittigar and a proud Indigenous man, who joined us to guide and educate the team on Indigenous practices and vegetation. Daryl spoke about Caring for Country and the importance of rehabilitating as much of the endangered Cumberland Woodland Plains habitat as possible, with only 5% left in the Sydney Basin. The work undertaken by the team on the day contributes to increasing the presence of that habitat.
He was also very pleased with the high energy and can-do attitude displayed by the team, and rightly so. The team managed to plant more than 660 trees before 12 o’clock, which must be a record!
BINGO is obligated to rehabilitate areas at its operational sites as set out in our licenses and management plans. This event, underpinned by BINGO’s strategic priority of Sustainability, demonstrates BINGO’s commitment to operating sustainably and fulfilling its compliance obligations. It also forms part of our social license to operate.
