Maintenance works on Thursday 18 May at Eastern Creek Recycling Ecology Park

In addition to drilling works from 22 May, BINGO wishes to inform local residents adjacent to our Eastern Creek Recycling Ecology Park, that maintenance works related to a pump upgrade of the leachate riser will take place on Thursday 18 May from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

What work will be taking place?

The sequence of tasks that we will undertake during the extension of the leachate riser are the following:

1.    Opening the riser lid and extracting the sump pump.

2.    Placing back the sump pump and closing the lid.

3.    Reconnecting all designed infrastructure like leachate and gas extraction pipes.

4.    Using cranes to assist with the above works.

What is BINGO doing to prevent odour during the works?

The two permanent flares will continue to operate during the works to mitigate any odour produced from the landfill.

To further mitigate any potential for odour, BINGO will be carrying out the following additional precautions during the works:

•    Treat the areas of the leachate riser with industrial heavy duty fog cannon.

•    Harmless oxidising solution will also be applied to neautralise any odour.

Why are the works needed?

The maintenance works are necessary to manage stormwater on site successfully over the coming months.

What should I do if I have an issue?
