Patons Lane Landfill opens for commercial customers

BINGO has been undertaking extensive works to reactivate the Patons Lane landfill and the Resource Recovery precinct in Western Sydney for operations from 3 July 2023.

The landfill plays a pivotal role in providing critical disposal infrastructure for inert waste in line with Greater Sydney’s waste management strategy.

Excavations for the landfill commenced on 6 February 2023 and EPA acceptance of the design including the state-of-the-art landfill liner system was secured in late June 2023.

Patons Lane is designed to meet the highest industry standards and employs cutting-edge technology and materials.

Patons Lane landfill recommences operation on 3 July and will have a capacity of up to 205,000 tonnes of dry, non-putrescible waste per annum. Putrescible waste will not be disposed of at Patons Lane and the landfill will only be open to commercial customers, not to the public

Key facts:

•    Landfill liner works for cell 1A-1 and 1A-2 were completed on 13 June 2023

•    EPA acceptance was provided on the 21 June 2023

•    Landfill re-activation is planned for the 3 July 2023
