VIC Council Permits

Do you need a council permit?

If you’re in Melbourne or surrounding suburbs in Victoria and plan to put a skip bin on your own private property you don’t need to apply for a council permit. However if your skip is going on the street or on the nature strip, a council permit may be required.

We can help you organise one when you book a bin with us.

Organising a council permit

The process of securing permits varies from council to council, as does the cost with some charging a fee or bond whilst others do not. As your bin provider, we hold the necessary accreditations and public liability to obtain a council permit on behalf of our customers.

We’ve made things easier and simplified the process by including the cost of the permit as an additional fee when you order our skip bins online or if you would like a quote, get in touch with us.

What is public property?

Public property includes (but is not limited to) the road, nature strip, laneway, crossover or any other public site that requires council approval before a skip bin can be placed on it.
